In Search of Meaning

Get the motor running

Honestly, my dear friends, I have so much of the universal wisdom and secrets of life to share with you, but I just don’t find time to do it !

;-)

OK, this sounded really cool and I just had to say it. Now I feel really great. Thank you.

But the truth of the matter is that since it has been so difficult to get our teenagers anywhere lately, at least with us, boring adults, I need to grab every possible opportunity that comes up on the horizon. So, right now I am frantically getting our van ready to drive off in an hour or so, for a short adrenalin vacation: rafting, high ropes, canyoning, bungee… In case we survive, I will be back.

Until than, my dear friends:

  1. My husband will be thrilled to know that the secrets to life are to be found in Monty Python.

  2. and yet your blog is named…In Search of Meaning…

I once read that while you teach you learn even more…I think that is what your strategy is…don’t worry…there are enough youngsters lurking around your blog to read what you write…

I for one always find opportunities to learn…something new…and especially from experience cos there is no better teacher…than experience…whether your own or someone else’s….

  3. Hayden: than for your husband the real stuff would be the movie: Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life.

UTP: I was, of course, being self-ironic in the above post. But thanks for the idea about youngsters reading my blog: I never thought about this possibility of teenagers actually reading this stuff. Makes me think.

  4. I posted here as well and it also did not go through. Daaaag! Maybe cyber world has put a block on me. LOL

Anyway, I loved this video and the preface you wrote before posting it cracked me up.

As to youngsters reading your site. I think that’s a GREAT idea. There is a lot of insight here that I think many would relate to, especially teenagers, because you are “hip” :) in a way they would relate to. And it’s amazing the number of young people searching beyond ipods and TV, etc.

Just think, you could be the next “GURU”!! :) LOL. Boy they’d love you because of all your travels, your open mind, your honesty, adventure, and more. I can see you shaking your head at me!!! :)

  5. Robin, gosh, a guru? Mention this to my teenage monsters and they will not survive it; laughter indeed can kill, you know. Anyway, I do work with kids and teenagers and am finding out that I may be having difficulties with age 10 – 12 ( see http://robertkrzisnik.wordpress.com/2008/06/02/violence-intolerance/ and http://robertkrzisnik.wordpress.com/2008/06/10/unlearning-violence/ ), but then with 14 – 18 I really enjoy hanging around and they feel safe and well in my company. I am actually pretty much thinking about making a step in my work and focus on working with teenagers more and with adults less.
And, yes, I was actually shaking my head at you. Can you see me? ;-)
