This is what I call a perfect morning. I wake up beside the most beautiful woman, who turns out to even be married to me. We move out of our camper van to enjoy the tranquillity of the nature and the first warm sunrays. While my wife does her morning yoga routine next to me at the shore, I sit on the stool, sip my warm tea and observe the calm, motionless sea and seagulls flying around.
And then…
…then the dolphins start jumping out of the water about 50 metres away, just in front of us, and give us a 20 minute group show of cheerfulness and joy. What a honour, what a blessing.

*goes green* I am so jealous right now I will just be honest and say it… WOW

Dolphins don’t seem to need to search for meaning.
Or, as Douglas Adams put it:
“It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the wheel, New York, wars, blogs and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man — for precisely the same reasons.”

What an amazing thing you’ve shared. I’ve come back and read it twice, each time closing my eyes and imagining myself in a place much like you’ve described..

There really is something special about dolphins. I hear they are one of the most intelligent creatures on Earth (man supposedly has the highest intellect .. though I sometimes wonder!!!!) and I sense the connection with them is deeper than intelligence. I have a wonderful shiver down my spine imagining you both enjoying the show.

It feels like you’ve been spreading so much Good around you lately that Nature is rewarding you.

Ian – yes, I completely agree, when I saw them for the first time of my life in nature, many years ago, it was a sort of a shock, like seeing aliens landing or something. Since that first “encounter” I have always considered them as really special beings, never ever as mere animals…
ACC – hear hear hear… I am not sure about me spreading so much good around, but I wouldn’t mind Nature reward me.

Your pictures and words reminded me of my honeymoon in Candi Dasa, Bali.
I was with my new wife and two locals in a dugout canoe with an out-rigger and outboard motor being taken out to a diving spot. When my wife noticed that there was a very big volcano (that had been obscured by a large hill just out of the town we were in).
My wife is fascinated with volcanos and her face just lit up with joy. I then pointed to a near by sea turtle which made my wife’s grin expand even more. To top it all off, a few dolphins swam by. By then my wife’s face was radiating so much bliss it caused such happiness in me that I thought my heart would burst.
I often think about the look on my wife’s face on that day. That thought is like my own bit of portable sunshine.

Hey, great, I can imagine this very well. You should have seen my wife when the dolphins started to fool around – she was dancing and jumping around the shore with joy. I believe this is what kept dolphins there for such a long time, to observe such a happy human being.
