I am a bit crazy about our kids. I really love spending time with them, enjoy being around and my mind is pretty much occupied with pondering in which way to support them best. There are ups and downs, or course, there are all sorts of bridges we need to build on a daily basis, but most of the time it is a bliss to be around them. To enjoy the connection and the trust we have managed to build along these years.
And the more they grow and become independent human individuals, the more miraculous the life seems. All the different directions they keep exploring, all the richness and diversity of life they keep bringing home. Frankly, I am not always all that happy about just everything, but very often I am.
Nowadays I indulge in observing how my daughter Lucija keeps exploring the world of art – being a dancer and a painter already, she decided to go into photography as well. She set out for getting money together for an SLR camera, managed to buy it and started to produce photos. And, surprise surprise, I love them all.
I may be a bit biased, of course , but than even Razz, when visiting and spending some time tutoring Lucia on photography, said she had a knack for it. Though he strongly suggested she went through the instructions manual for the camera sometime soon. But, do true artists really do that?
Anyway, here are a couple of shots my girl produced.

It feels sooooo good to read this, to see that there are parents who are proud of their kids and happy and trusting them and so on. I know there are, I hope so at least, because lately most parents I know who have teens keep on complaining how lazy they are, how they wish they didn’t need to care, how it’s a constraint to have kids etc. It’s reassuring that it doesn’t have to be that way!
Robert, when are you publishing your book in English? I would love to have your tips when becoming a parent myself!

I think what I love love LOVE the most is how she is interacting with the world, her world, as an artist. Through her eyes the world IS art, and beautiful…

Of course you should be proud of Lucia because she does have talent and to top it off, she’s a really nice person to boot! As a fatter of fact, I liked all your kids and if Phillip does ever come to Australia, like he said he might, he’d be more than welcome in our house.
Lucia needs to read her instruction book so she can express herself more effectively with her camera. That’s one of the problems with photography, it’s so technology based which forces us to use a mechanism to create images. It’s so different to using a brush or chisel.
Unfortunately photography isn’t as intuitive as we’d like to think, or how the camera advertising companies would have us believe.

Anne-Claire – Yes, I am very proud of my kids, I enjoy them so much and yes, I am celebrating the connection with them. It feels so great! Our book? Well, Marjeta is editing it these days. Being a perfectionist, it takes some time…
But it will soon be over and then it will go the next step, over to the printing house. So, say a few more months for the Slovene edition. Then we start working on the English one. Perhaps it will be faster if you learn Slovene in the meantime?
Hayden: yes yes yes yes! Thank you thank you thank you thank you.
Razz: Be careful; you may end up with all of them in your house…
